Conflict Islands Conservation Initiative
Conservation in Action

Important Announcement
Future of Conservation
After many rewarding years, The Conflict Islands Conservation Initiative would like to announce that we will no longer be in operation from July 1, 2026. The conservation work on the Conflict Islands will continue to operate and expand under the NGO, Earthkeeper Foundation Sanctuaries, ensuring the ongoing protection and conservation of the natural environment and endangered species in this important region of the Coral Sea. We extend our sincere thanks to all of our supporters, partners, donors and volunteers for your invaluable support since CICI's establishment in 2017. Over the past 10 years, we have successfully released hundreds of thousands of sea turtle hatchlings and trained 50 + local indigenous rangers to protect and conserve nature. Your contributions have made a lasting difference, and we look forward to seeing this conservation legacy continue through Earthkeeper Foundation Sanctuaries for many years to come."

Our Impact
since 2017

About Us
The Conflict Islands Conservation Initiative (CICI) was established in 2017 as a proactive response to the urgent need for marine conservation efforts in the Conflict Islands, Papua New Guinea. Our mission is to protect and preserve the rich biodiversity of the Conflict Islands' marine ecosystem through research, education, and sustainable management practices. CICI's goals include the establishment of marine protected areas, conducting scientific research, implementing community outreach programs, and fostering partnerships to ensure the long-term conservation of this pristine marine environment and its connectivity to the Great Barrier reef.
